Touring the Land of Wine

California wine routes can be equated to touring the vineyards of Greece or Italy, at the very least. While we may not have the legacy of thousands of years to practice that these foreign countries have, areas like Napa Valley are delightfully suitable for vineyards. However, Napa Valley is just one of many areas where you can plan a California wine tour, and none should be ignored.

Sonoma County produces its own delicious wines, and several areas near the Pacific coast have huge vineyards offering tours. The central coastal area of beautiful Cali has vineyards in areas such as Paso Robles, Monterey, Salinas, Livermore, Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara. The central valleys are also not to be overlooked, and include the Lodi, Clarksburg and Madera areas.

The north shore brings us Lake Couty, and southern California brings us vineyards in the San Diego and Temecula area. Sierra Foothills can boast great wines in Placer County, El Dorado, Amador, and Nevada County.

There is no single area that prevails over all others, although there are some areas (such as Sonoma County and Napa Valley) that provide us with more vineyards in a smaller area of space. One-month, or even three-month vacations can easily be planned to visit the main vineyards of beautiful California. Beyond the vineyards themselves, most of these areas have luxury hotels and resorts, world-class restaurants, and a wide range of other activities for times when you might not be in the mood for wine.
